Здравствуйте дорогие Offroad друзья, меня зовут Миленко и я происхожу из Словении. Простите мой плохой русский язык, я использую Google Translate, чтобы написать это, потому что я просто понять некоторые русские, но не может говорить и писать ( я как собака) :-)

Thank you all for warm welcome. I expect we'll arrive to Irkutsk somewhere end of august next summer. Are there any planned offroad events in your region at that time? I can adapt my plans according to your activities but I have to know about approximate dates, so we can plan in advance. I would need dates till end of this year because we have to arrange our absence from work 


I have some more questions regarding radio equipment. Is there anyone who can tell me how is it with use of VHF radios in Russia? I get some informations from our national radio amateur association that Russia adopted CEPT rules, so it should be possible to use our in car mounted VHF radios on our journey? Of course with full CEpT licence.


I also wondering if it's possible to drive around Baikal sea in summer or is it too difficult?

It's possible but it's difficult   You should have at least 2 full-equipped vehicle, some luck and good weather

  I know russian roads are not very car-friendly. First I was thinking just to drive on road from St. petersburg to Vladivostok, see your country, meet new friends, feel the life in Russia, but then...... you know offroader's soul: maybe it is possible to make it a little more difficult and learn some new experience, and get stuck in the mud, and cross a river, and broke a driveshaft, and have a lot and lot of fun. First I was sure that I will go with Suzuki vitara and have some fun with light offroad, but now I'm really considering if it would make sense to go with my Nissan Patrol. It's fully equipped with two ARB lockers, warn 8274 winch in front and in the back, 33" silverstone extreme tires, roll cage, 3" OME suspension. I still don't know if my friends will go with their hard offroad cars or just with regular 4x4's, and this is also thing to consider. There is a lot to think about (tire wear on Silverstones - 11.000 km on the road till Irkutsk, fuel consumption 20l/100km, leaf springs on Nissan - like riding a horse for three weeks) and after all we have to come home at the end.
But these are only questions regarding our decision what car to use for our journey. We have few more month to start our preparations for the journey. In any case this will be an adventure and it doesn't matter if something happens with a car.... It's life, isn't it? And we have just one, so we have to live it.

Thank you for answers, it helped me a lot, now i have no worry about radio. I have to reconsider offroad plans and i'll wait for your event calender. Is it possible to get somewhere GPS tracks or maps of offroad trails in your area?
